The other day, I had a conversation with a potential client, and I could sense that their business had untapped potential for even greater success.
She was refreshingly candid and said, “Stop, stop, stop, Christian – we have all the success we need. Revenue is overflowing, our accounts are bursting at the seams, and quite frankly, our core focus has shifted. It’s not about growth anymore; it’s about holding endless back-to-back meetings and implementing new systems—that is our core-business.”
Of course, this conversation never happened 😊
But isn’t there a grain of truth to it? Of cause there is 😊 When we’re busy and comfortable, we have this human tendency of thinking that we’re too smart or too well-prepared to lose sight, we may end up acting in ways not so different from the scenario above. Maybe not as dramatically, but still. Maybe not you and me, but we read articles about people, who have this tendency 😊
Not rarely success can turn into a comfort zone that blinds us. We revel in it, forgetting that success needs maintenance, renewal, and reinvestment. We consume our achievements without planting new seeds.
And when that becomes a habit, what happens next? Those around us might see what we refuse to: that we’re slowly cutting off the very branch we’re sitting on.
If you’re ready to plant the seeds for tomorrow’s success, even when things are going brilliantly, reach out. Sometimes, the best time to nurture growth is when it already seems abundant.
